Formulated with 15 whole plants, each holding a role in therapeutic balance. Sustainably sourced FRENCH GREEN CLAY offers its mineral density and drawing capacity, while the medicinal flowers, herbs, and roots temper and balance its action.

BURDOCK and DANDELION ROOTS contribute B vitamins and polysaccharides that act as both hydrators and nutritive prebiotics for the microbiome, traditionally used to move stagnation and restore clarity on a deeper level. Mineral-rich DULSE SEAWEED replenishes trace elements, and MARSHMALLOW ROOT releases its mucilage-rich hydration to soften and cushion the clay’s pull. Detox Mask’s hidden value lies in these hydrating herbs, making this Mask suitable for anyone who wants the effectiveness of a drawing clay, without the drying side effects.

Azulene-rich CHAMOMILE, joined by PASSIONFLOWER, YARROW, and LAVENDER, is present to cool and steady reactive and irritated skin. These are anti-inflammatory plants that mend, balance, and strengthen skin that has lost its equilibrium. Naturally occurring plant salicylates from Passionflower gently refine the skin, existing within the plant’s synergistic chemistry instead of a harsh lab-isolated acid.

Microdosed essential oils, including LAVENDER, BLUE GERMAN and ROMAN CHAMOMILE, and HELICHRYSUM, provide a deep relief, completing a formula to leave skin clear, calm, and balanced.

PHYTOCHEMISTRY PROFILE
Detox Mask contains these notable phytonutrients, along with many others:

USAGE
Scoop 1 teaspoon or less of Detox Mask into a Mask Bowl and trickle a bit of water in with fingertips. Using approximately twice as much water as Mask, mix into a runny paste. Allow the Mask to rest and steep (like tea) for a few minutes. Steeping will cause the Mask to thicken and activate its water-soluble nutrients. Using the Laurel Skin Mask Brush, apply gently to clean, dampened face and neck. Keep the Mask hydrated, which will keep the Mask activated and prevent it from drying on the skin. The longer the Mask is left on, the more frequently it will need to be rehydrated. Rehydrate the Mask with a wet Mask Brush, wet fingertips, a mister bottle of water, or steam from a bath or shower. Leave on for 10-30 minutes. Fully rehydrate to loosen the Mask with your fingertips, then remove gently with a warm cloth.

Detox Mask can be applied to the full face and neck, or used to target areas with the most congestion, or even applied to isolated breakouts as a spot treatment.

The ritual naturally invites you to pause and receive on a level we rarely allow ourselves. Be still. Let the vibrant nutrients flood your skin with replenishment. The scent of fresh herbs and earthy roots calms and grounds the mind. And when you’re ready to remove, the Mask rinses away easily down the drain.

Use within 12 months of opening and by the recommended use-by date, which is found on the bottom of the jar. Store this product in a cool, dry, and dark place. Keep contents of jar dry and free from moisture.

FRENCH GREEN CLAY
This mineral-rich clay is deeply drawing and detoxifying, helping to visibly refine pores while lifting daily buildup. Though powerful, it is naturally nourishing and encourages healthy cellular turnover. Because clay can be drying for some skin types, we always recommend keeping your Mask hydrated during use. When kept moist, this purifying treatment remains suitable for both dry and oily skin.

LAVENDER
Our biodynamic Lavender flowers and essential oil are cultivated at the Laurel Skin farm. Cooling and calming, Lavender soothes visible inflammation while supporting balanced oil production and healthy skin function.

PASSIONFLOWER
Farmed locally and regeneratively just for Laurel Skin, this soothing vine gently supports detoxification and clarity through its powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic herbal actions. Its natural astringency strengthens and refines the skin, as it helps calm irritation and reduce the appearance of redness.

DULSE SEAWEED
Organically farmed and mineral-rich, Dulse helps draw out impurities while replenishing the skin with trace nutrients, hydration, and antioxidant support.

    Working with Clay
    You may have heard some people say that clay is drying. What does an herbalist have to say? I’ll tell you: Clay is not always drying. A clay actually contains hydrating mucilage, polymers, and minerals. Its effect depends entirely on how it is used.

    When allowed to dry fully on the skin, clay continues to absorb both oil and water as moisture evaporates. This can leave the skin feeling tight or depleted. When kept slightly hydrated, however, clay behaves differently. It continues to more gently draw impurities while releasing its own mineral content into the skin, creating a more balanced exchange.

    French Green Clay is rich in trace minerals and enzymatic activity. When the mask remains moist, these elements remain active, supporting softness and clarity rather than collapse.

    For this reason, we recommend keeping all Laurel Skin masks lightly hydrated during use. A fine mist of water or the natural steam of a bath or shower allows the clay to purify without over-drying, maintaining nourishment and barrier integrity.
