Day Balm

Day Balm is a lightweight, waterless moisturizer that melts into the skin. The lightest of our Balms, it is formulated for daytime use, providing time-released protective antioxidants and nourishing lipids from plants that thrive in the sun. A three-month infusion of bioflavonoid and carotenoid-rich plants is layered with raw, unrefined oils that keep skin resilient and able to adapt to oxidative and environmental stress.

KEY ACTIONS

  • UV-resilient antioxidants support daily defense
  • Moisturizes and protects skin from the elements
  • Reparative lipids and carotenoids strengthen the skin barrier

SKIN TYPE

Healthy aging; suitable for most skin types

Our balms are waterless moisturizers, a format we have worked with long before it became a skincare trend. Without water, emulsifiers, or preservatives, every ingredient in the formula is present solely to benefit the skin.

Formulated with 28 whole plants, Day Balm begins with a three-month infusion of medicinal herbs. Sun-loving CALENDULA lends its reparative resins and UV-protective carotenoids, alongside anti-inflammatory and soothing allies, LEMON BALM and CHAMOMILE Addressing antioxidant protection and the calming of inflammation are essential keys to this formula’s success in defending the skin from excessive, oxidative environmental elements.

To support the integrity of connective tissue, GOTU KOLA, NETTLE, and HORSETAIL provide the minerals and nourishment needed for firmness and elasticity. COMFREY leaf keeps the skin renewing and regenerating, encouraging healthy cell proliferation.

Layers of vibrant fruit oils make Day Balm uniquely suited for daytime skin. Fresh, unrefined SEA BUCKTHORN, RED RASPBERY, ROSEHIP and CRANBERRY deliver a synergistic blend of antioxidants, including carotenoids, flavonoids, and omega-3. This layered, woven network of nutrients helps with skin resilience in the presence of sunlight and any kind of environmental or oxidative stress.

A small amount of BEESWAX and SHEA BUTTER give the balm its soft, buttery texture and gentle staying power, slowing absorption so these protective nutrients time-release throughout the day. A non-photosensitizing, microdosed essential oil blend of NEROLI and leafy LEMON BALM is present to increase adaptability, brighten and balance.

RITUAL
A Day Balm and a Hydrating Elixir II waiting in the fridge on a warm summer day is a ritual to treasure. After a long day of gardening, lounging poolside, or an adventurous sunny hike, your skin will soak this up with gratitude. After a gentle cleanse, generously mist your skin with soothing Hydrating Elixir II. Follow that with a small scoop of cool Balm – watch it glide and melt onto your skin. Bask in the instant gratification of skin that is left relieved, hydrated, with nutrients and antioxidants replenished from a sun-filled day.

BALM RESTORATION
If your Balm melts in transit, it could have textural changes that make it less smooth. While this does not affect product performance, a smooth Balm texture is often more desirable. If you would like to restore your Balm’s texture, follow the instructions in this video. Do not leave your Balm in a hot location like your car or near a sunny window.

Use within 6 months of opening and by the recommended use-by date, which is found on the bottom of the bottle. Store this product in a cool, dry, and dark place.

100% Whole Plant Organic

CALENDULA
Our vibrant biodynamic Calendula is farmed and hand-harvested flower by flower exclusively for Laurel Skin. Calendula contains valuable healing resins that make it deeply restorative and protective. Its abundance of carotenoids and flavonoids makes it particularly suited to helping the skin respond to sun exposure and environmental stress.

HELICHRYSUM
Gentle yet potent, this anti-inflammatory flower helps calm visible redness and puffiness. It supports tissue integrity and is deeply transformative for damaged skin.

CARROT SEED
This soothing aromatic oil helps reduce irritation while encouraging the skin’s natural healing response to sun exposure. It promotes regeneration, keeping skin firm and brightening the appearance of discoloration.

ROSEHIP
Our Rosehip Oil is unique because it comes from both the fruit and the seed, allowing a wider spectrum of vitamins and nutrients to remain within the oil. Few oils match the complexity of Rosehip’s composition, which includes naturally occurring retinoic acid, vitamin E, carotenoids, flavonoids, and vitamin C. It has been traditionally used and widely studied for its ability to reduce the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation, while supporting collagen and connective tissue for smoother, more resilient skin.

GOTU KOLA
Gotu Kola supports connective tissue and collagen by protecting existing structure while encouraging new growth, increasing firmness and elasticity. Our Gotu Kola is exceptionally vibrant, grown exclusively for us by a nearby farm. It is a plant we simply cannot do without in any vibrant-aging formula.

NEROLI
The scent of fresh citrus blossom, Neroli is uplifting and joyful. Beyond brightening the aroma of Day Balm, Neroli also has a toning and balancing effect on the skin, helping to promote clarity and radiance.

Ëšorganically grown ingredient

Laurel Skin formulas set a benchmark for high ingredient and formulation standards that the beauty industry would collectively consider unreasonable. Here are a few highlights that set our Day Balm apart:

  • Exclusive use of freshly pressed, unrefined, virgin oils to maintain antioxidant and nutrient availability
  • Exclusive use of 100% organic, biodynamic and regeneratively grown plants
  • A 3-month whole-plant infusion in every bottle
  • No lab-made, synthetic isolates, bioidenticals, or biomimetics – only whole plants
  • Micro-dosed essential oils for immediate phytonutrient support, without overwhelming the skin
  • The abbreviated list above cannot be found elsewhere – our level of care and integrity is proudly unreasonable.

CAN YOU USE TOO MUCH BALM?
It’s a common myth that oils cause breakouts, but this is not quite accurate. What is true is that the skin can only absorb so many lipids at once. If a Balm or facial oil is sitting on the surface rather than melting in, the most common reason is simply that too much has been applied.

Most creams and lotions are made with roughly 70% water to create a stable emulsion. Laurel Skin Balms contain no water at all. They are composed entirely of plant oils, waxes, and whole-plant infusions, making them far more concentrated than conventional moisturizers.

Because of this concentration, only a very small amount is needed. When transitioning from a cream or lotion, begin with about one-quarter of the amount you would normally use. With no fillers or emulsifiers present, the Balm delivers dense plant nutrients in a much smaller dose.

For more thorough hydration and lipid absorption, apply a Hydrating Elixir generously, prior to Serums and Balms. Applying a Balm to dampened skin will help it absorb more quickly, delivering nutrients more immediately to depleted skin.
