SLEEP BALM

Somatic Rest helps the body release the physical state of wakefulness, easing accumulated tension and supporting an overworked nervous system to find rest. Therapeutic aromatics, herbal nervines and sedatives, and the ritual of touch invite the body back into itself, allowing it to soften, settle, and remember that it is safe to rest.

KEY ACTIONS

  • Therapeutic aromatics soothe an overworked nervous system
  • Whole-plant sedatives support deeper, more restorative rest
  • Magnesium-rich plants encourage physical relaxation

SKIN TYPE

Suitable for most

Sleep Balm begins with deeply nourishing oils like PUMPKIN SEED and HEMP SEED. These unrefined lipids envelop the skin with a deep sense of comfort and nourishment, beginning to support the nervous system before the plant infusions have even been absorbed. PUMPKIN SEED and MILKY OATS are naturally rich in magnesium, along with other synergistic nutrients that further encourage the body toward rest.

A three-month whole-plant infusion of PASSIONFLOWER, SKULLCAP, and VALERIAN ROOT forms the heart of this formula. These traditional herbal sedatives and antispasmodics have long been valued for helping release physical tension carried throughout the day, relaxing muscles, easing overworked nerves, and supporting deeper, more restorative sleep.

The therapeutic aromatics within Sleep Balm offer another layer of support. Through the senses, LAVENDER, CEDARWOOD, VETIVER, and CLARY SAGE communicate directly with the limbic system, the emotional center of the brain. Together, they work on the HPA axis, encouraging the nervous system to soften its vigilance, helping the body settle into a more embodied state of rest and avoid disruptive hormonal spikes as you sleep.

The experience of Sleep Balm is one of deep, somatic rest. Muscles begin to soften, the breath slows, and the body gradually remembers what it feels like to no longer carry the day. A gentle heaviness settles into the limbs, inviting deep embodiment and making space for long, restorative sleep.

SENSORY PROFILE
How it feels: a buttery and velvety smooth balm that glides effortlessly over skin
How it smells: a moss-filled forest floor, earthy roots, medicinal herbal notes

USAGE
Apply to shoulders, neck, temples, hands and/or feet as an aromatherapy treatment at bedtime. Pair with Sleep Mist for the complete bedtime ritual.

RITUAL
About an hour before bed, mist your linens, pillows, and surrounding space with Sleep Mist. Mist your body as well, taking a few slow, steadying breaths as the therapeutic aromatics begin to settle the mind.

Massage Sleep Balm anywhere you’re carrying the day, especially the neck, shoulders, chest, and feet. As the whole plants and ritual of touch invite the body back into itself, notice your breath soften, your muscles release, and your nervous system remember that it is safe to rest.

BALM RESTORATION
If your Balm melts in transit, it could have textural changes that make it less smooth. While this does not affect product performance, a smooth Balm texture is often more desirable. If you would like to restore your Balm’s texture, follow the instructions in this video. Do not leave your Balm in a hot location like your car or near a sunny window.

Use within 6 months of opening and by the recommended use-by date, which is found on the bottom of the bottle. Store this product in a cool, dry, and dark place.

Ëšorganically grown ingredient

Laurel Skin formulas set a benchmark for high ingredient and formulation standards that the beauty industry would collectively consider unreasonable. Here are a few highlights that set our Sleep Balm apart:

  • Exclusive use of freshly pressed, unrefined, virgin oils to maintain antioxidant and nutrient availability
  • Exclusive use of 100% organic, biodynamic and regeneratively grown plants
  • A 3-month whole-plant infusion in every bottle
  • No lab-made, synthetic isolates, bioidenticals, or biomimetics – only whole plants
  • Micro-dosed essential oils for immediate phytonutrient support, without overwhelming the skin
  • The abbreviated list above cannot be found elsewhere – our level of care and integrity is proudly unreasonable.

    A Note From Laurel
Sleep isn’t simply the absence of wakefulness. It’s the result of a nervous system that feels supported enough to let go. Herbalists don’t ask, “How do I fall asleep?” We ask, “What is keeping the body from resting?” The answer is rarely just one thing. We choose plants that each support a different expression of imbalance in the nervous system and gently guide the body back toward rest.

Insomnia is not a stranger to me. I know the frustration of 3 am wakefulness, caffeine-filled mornings, and cycles of inflammation and stagnation; a nervous system that struggles to settle. After trying everything and anything, what finally brought relief was learning how to support my nervous system before I ever climbed into bed. My hope is that, over time, these plants become as familiar to you as they have become to me.
